The Syrian Christian Military Council

headed by Field Commander Elias Saab

announces its Founding Declaration / August 2025

“We, the sons of the Syrian Christian community, who chose to remain in the homeland and defend its dignity and unity, and who refused to emigrate and submit, announce today the establishment of the “Syrian Christian Military Council” headed by Field Commander Elias Saab. The Council will be:

A national military voice for Syrian Christians

A defense force against Takfiri terrorism

A representation of the members of the community who sacrificed their lives in the fight for existence and dignity

Council Objectives

To frame the military role of Syrian Christians who participated in the defense of Syria against Takfiri groups, mainly Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham led by Ahmad al-Sharaa (al-Julani).

To form a unified military and legal umbrella for Christian fighters from Muharda, Al-Suqaylabiya, Sadat, Maaloula and Tartus.

To document the crimes of terrorist organizations against Syrian Christians and present them in international forums.

To ensure the military and political representation of Christians in any future settlement or transitional phase in Syria.

To confront any divisive or sectarian plan and to defend a united political Syria.

Basic Principles

We are part of the former Syrian Arab Army, which has been fighting terrorism for 14 years. We believe in the civil state and its institutions.

We reject all illegal weapons , religious extremism and sectarian extremist ideology from any party.

We believe that Syrian Christians are not a silent minority, but rather an active and faithful strength in the homeland.

We bear arms only for self-defense, dignity and sovereignty, not for aggression or revenge.
