A tragedy was avoided: Syrian aircraft with 162 passengers on board travelling from Damascus to Moscow landed safely despite the heart attack of the pilot.

Al-Watan in its online edition published that Saad Edelby, pilot of a syrian civil aircraft which was travelling from Damascus to Moscow, had a heart attack and lost conscious before landing. Hopefully, the pilot’s assistant, Rami Ayach, managed to land safely the aircraft with the 162 passengers on board at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow. The pilot is currently being hospitalized in a Russian hospital. In the framework of the regulations of the civil aviation standards in Syria, each flight must carry a second pilot assistant for any case of emergency.
